Zone Defensive Drill

1. Position players in end zone as if the box was in the corner. This is a zone defensive system. The one D has his man in the corner with the center supporting the D. The other D is in front of the net, strong side winger is high on the boards watching the opposing D, other winger is low in the slot.

2. Drill starts on one blow of the whistle from coach and the players switch corners changing position. D1 goes to corner, d2 goes to front of net, f1 goes to puck support, f2 goes high to point man and f3 sags to protect the slot. Players keep moving back and forth on the one blast of the whistle.

3. On two blast of whistle the players race down the ice forchecking the assisted coach which has the hot puck. In the above diagram its a 1 2 2 forcheck.
